The Zanzibar campus of IIT Madras believes in making its world-class education accessible to a diverse cohort of students. We want to ensure that you, an exceptional student, can come study with us without financial barriers. We are putting together several means and ways to support students. IITM alumni are putting together financial assistance, and we are also negotiating on other possibilities including scholarships from various government bodies & bank loans. This page will house information as and when we are ready to announce it.
IIT Madras alumni are the strongest advocates of the quality of our education. They are excited by the opportunities at the first international campus of IITM. They are coming together this year to fund 50% of the tuition fees for Year 1 (2023-’24), for up to 8 deserving students. We will write to all eligible students after applications close, ask you to apply separately to the award and review the information for making our decision. These will be announced in late September, and awardees will have a chance to interact with the sponsoring alumni online for mentorship.
We recognise that the Zanzibar Screening Test for the undergraduate applicants, is a big unknown. There are no papers from the past year to prepare from or evaluate yourself against. Despite these odds, we expect that some of you will do exceptionally well. We will present cash awards to the top 5 performers in the screening test. You don’t have to do anything to apply for this award (except do very well in the test!). These will be announced in late September.
